Instead, a remake was released that barely differed from the original. As is well known, this did not happen - at all. Here, of course, there was a golden opportunity thirteen years later to blow another generation of players off the chair with a remake that could once and for all have cemented the studio's status as pioneers in the genre. A graphics experience that quickly was cemented into the history books and gave rise to the now classic phrase "will it run Crysis?" Players came for the graphics but stayed for the freedom, challenging enemies, atmosphere, and the uncompromising actions pieces. In its original version, a game that made every performance connoisseur lose his cool. Review copy of game provided by publisher. As recently as last year, Crytek released a remaster of the then thirteen-year-old Crysis. If you’re into shooters and have never tried them before, or if you’re looking for a fun return to some great games, it’s hard to go wrong here. It’s a decent package for three fun FPS games with a lot going for them all for 50 bucks. Crysis 1 shows its age here and there, but it’s not a rough game by any means and all three look really great in 4K. Crysis 2 and 3 are great games that any FPS fan would enjoy. I’ve reviewed two of them before and said what I needed to say there, and it still holds true to this day. It’s not a big slight, but it is there for the ones that did enjoy the online aspects of the games.Īt the end of the day, it’s really hard to talk about these games. Now, I know I wasn’t the biggest Crysis multiplayer person out there, but it would have been nice to at least have a couple of servers dedicated to the trilogy. While most of everything came back around for the second time, any form of multiplayer did not. Which is fine if I needed to save some space and just play one game at a time. In fact, I was surprised to see that the trilogy was separated into three different downloads. While I still hold Crysis 2 in the highest regard, Crysis 3 has its moments of brilliance and the entire package holds a lot of weight to it with 10-15 hours in each game. The game series has always captured this sense very well and it’s still a fun formula to go back to.Ĭrysis 2 and 3 hold up very well and while Crysis 1 feels a bit outdated in a few ways, it still holds its own and is an enjoyable experience. Take the stealthy approach or go all in with no mercy. The game features a nice feeling of linear storytelling with large open spaces for tactical combat where the choice is on the player on how to handle situations with enemies. Each game features completely different locales that range from an island jungle to the empty streets of New York City. Players take on the roles of different protagonists each equipped with a special combat suit that allows them to do some super-human things like absorb bullets, cloak into an invisible mirage, and move at breakneck speeds. Crysis 2 and 3 haven’t really been touched as far as content goes and both still look pretty fantastic to this day. This package comes with Crysis, Crysis 2, and Crysis 3 (original, I know) with the first Crysis being the redo of the game for Xbox Live Arcade back in 2011. Cut to the Crysis Remastered Trilogy – a full HD makeover (if you can even call it an HD makeover anymore.) All these games were in HD to begin with, but all in a quick discounted package that delivers three quality games, two of which could be considered FPS classics in some circles. At this point, Crysis can run on pretty much everything including the newest consoles. Everyone remembers the running joke of “Can it run Crysis?” Well, if you’re old enough to remember, at least.
